BEANOGRAPHY
This edition of Magnolia comes from Yukro Station in Agaro, Ethiopia, carrying the floral lift and citrus clarity that define a beautifully structured washed Ethiopian coffee.
The cup opens with the soft perfume of apple blossom before moving into ripe orange and a smooth, honeyed sweetness. As it cools, the floral character becomes more expansive, while the citrus remains bright and articulate rather than sharp.
There is delicacy here, but not fragility. The coffee has enough sweetness and structure to hold its florals together, creating a cup that feels lively, elegant, and complete.
Magnolia remains the bright, modern espresso expression in the Phoenix offering. In this harvest, Yukro brings spring florals, orange brightness, and a lingering honeyed-tea finish.

ORIGIN
Wanja Kersa, Jimma, Oromia, Agaro — Ethiopia
Yukro Station works with coffee grown by 579 smallholder producers in and around Wanja Kersa, within Ethiopia’s Agaro coffee-growing area.
The coffee grows between 1800 and 2200 metres above sea level. At these elevations, cooler conditions slow cherry development, allowing sugars, acids, and aromatic compounds to build gradually before harvest.
The area’s producers use semi-forest farming systems, where coffee grows among false banana trees and maize. This integrated approach provides shade and supports coffee production without dependence on extensive irrigation or heavy fertilizer use.
The result is an origin capable of producing coffees with remarkable floral definition, citrus clarity, and layered sweetness.

PROCESSING METHOD
Fully Washed
In Ethiopia, many smallholder producers deliver freshly harvested cherries to a central washing station.
A washing station is the processing site where cherries from neighbouring farms are received, sorted, depulped, fermented, washed, and dried. This shared infrastructure allows small farms to participate in carefully controlled specialty-coffee processing.
For a fully washed coffee, the outer fruit is removed soon after harvest. Fermentation then loosens the remaining mucilage before the coffee is washed clean and carefully dried.
For this Yukro lot, washed processing preserves the separation between apple blossom, orange, and honey. It gives the coffee its clean structure, lifted aromatics, and bright, tea-like finish.

PRODUCER SPOTLIGHT
Yukro Station
Kata Muduga Union
Yukro Station was established in 1977 and now forms part of the Kata Muduga Union, an organization connecting multiple producer groups across the region.
The station receives cherries from 579 smallholder farms. Each producer contributes to a collective lot whose quality depends on careful picking at the farm level and disciplined sorting and processing at the station.
Yukro has become a recurring favourite because of its ability to produce coffees with pronounced floral aromatics and clear citrus character. This third-lot selection continues that profile through apple blossom, orange brightness, and a honeyed finish.
The term washing station matters here: this coffee does not represent one estate. It represents the combined agricultural work of hundreds of smallholders and the processing expertise of the station that brings their harvests together.
